If you or someone you work with identifies as neurodivergent, they may have experienced these common work scenarios

  • Worrying about whether I will be labelled once everyone knows I'm autistic

  • Explaining to my boss that in team meetings eye contact is hard for me

  • Feeling pressurised knowing that other people think I'm either bored, not listening or are being difficult - even when I know that I'm processing what’s being said, just differently

  • Not bothering to ask for headphones or desk partitions to help manage noise disruption in open plan office - wanting to cope without asking for help

  • Feeling the odd one out when I said no to after work social activities

  • Dreading Away Days, trying to convince teammates that I don't have the same need for ‘social’ unless its directly work related

I adopt a solution based approach in my coaching and recognise autistic communication preferences. Support is offered online, phone or face to face. You’ll benefit also from practicing skills and trying out new thinking patterns in between the coaching sessions. Everyone has different needs, but 3-10 sessions over 3- 4 months is typical.

Neurodivergent people face specific challenges and opportunities. I can support you or someone you work with in these areas:

  • Advising about career choices, exploring suitable career paths, including non-stereotyped roles and industries

  • Information about companies who understand neuroinclusion

  • Writing your cv, completing application forms and practising for interviews (online or face to face)

  • Advising about the reasonable adjustments you can ask for in assessment processes

  • Help you weigh up whether to disclose, or talk to your employer on your behalf - especially valuable if you work in an organisation which does not have an HR department or managers who do not know the legal requirements.

  • Provide you with coping strategies to handle neurotypical demands; small talk, different communication norms

  • Analysis of your strengths and making the case to change your role to best use skills

  • Prepare for performance reviews or promotion interviews

  • Negotiating accommodations which work best for you,

  • Dealing with discrimination and using Access to Work
